Position Summary

The Enrollment Specialist-Recruiter travels often to establish and maintain strong professional relationships with area schools and community partners in an effort to promote and recruit for Reid State Technical College. The Enrollment Specialist-Recruiter meets with high school students, nontraditional students, alumni, community leaders, business organizations and various other populations to serve as a liaison between Reid State and the service areas the college represents. In addition, the Enrollment Specialist-Recruiter organizes and plans events associated with recruiting students to attend Reid State. The Enrollment Specialist-Recruiter is a team player who collaborates with college administrators, faculty, staff and colleagues across the Alabama Community College System to maximize the student experience at Reid State.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience according to ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E3/03.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Represents and promotes Reid State during the day, evening or weekends by traveling to area schools, events, and public locations to seek and recruit potential students.
  • Serves as the point of contact for college recruiting and events.
  • Guides prospective students through the full admissions process, advising potential students on applications, admissions procedures and registration requirements via phone, email, and face-to-face conversation.
  • Creates and fosters a streamline of steps for students to complete after they have been admitted to Reid State Technical College, including applying for financial aid, registering for R.O.A.R. Day (orientation), and registering for classes.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills to include but not limited to preparing accurate reports from varied information and communicating job-related topics in interpersonal or presentational settings.
  • Schedules meetings with local education agencies to participate in completing admission, financial aid, and scholarship applications.
  • Conducts presentations in area schools, businesses and at community events about the benefits of Reid State.
  • Develops and oversees all communication for prospective students using Target X, maintaining communication with students that have applied to Reid State Technical College, to increase yield rates.
  • Ensures accuracy and develops a schedule to review and correct all admissions-related data inconsistencies or errors in Target X, Banner, Argos, And Axiom.
  • Ensures all student information and documentation remains confidential and secure.
  • Assists in planning, organizing and executing student recruiting-related activities to include campus tours, orientation (R.O.A.R. Day), fairs, scholarship awards, and special events.
  • Engages in professional learning activities and actively seeks information about developing trends and ideas pertaining to admissions, recruiting and financial aid.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of professional behavior; specifically, Confidentiality, ethics, loyalty, honesty, and integrity.
  • Establishes and maintains positive and professional working relationships within area communities, demonstrating excellent customer service in all forms of communication and maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Uses appropriate time-management.
  • Works well under pressure and with others to meet deadlines and to facilitate the appropriate flow of information across the institution.
  • Understands the role as an advocate for our students in the context of our mission, vision, values, and our policies and procedures.
  • Assists with student clubs and organizations.
  • Actively participates in division/college committees and campus activities.
  • Perform other duties as required by the President and Dean of Students.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in Admissions, Enrollment, Recruiting, Registration, or Advising in an accredited higher education setting.
  • Strong and effective communications skills, as well as professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment to education.
  • Strong computer and research skills (Excel, Word, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
  • Experience in processing applications and analyzing data through online student information systems, customer relationship management (CRM) and data systems and software such as but not limited to Banner, DegreeWorks, and Salesforce/TargetX.
  • Experience with higher education academic records policies and practices and records retention and security.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Experience in the collection, management and analysis of higher education data in systems such as ARGOS, Clearinghouse, IPEDS, NSLDS, Parchment, DAX, etc.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama.
Tier I - Pays 7.50% monthly. State matches 13.57% (effective 10/01/24)

Health Insurance
PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.

Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:
  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
  • 2/3 waived after 2nd year
  • 3/3 waived after 3rd year
