We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Adjunct Instructor of Communications who is passionate about cultivating the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance and review in order to ensure successful development of each student.

This position is an Adjunct position and will report directly to the Dean of Transfer and Pre- Professional Programs. The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students.

Job Summary

Adjunct faculty members serve multiple roles as teachers, mentors, colleagues, and scholars. Adjunct faculty are expected to excel in classroom instruction and to fulfill various responsibilities related to their assigned teaching duties.

Nature of Work

Adjunct faculty is responsible for teaching an area of expertise within a specific period.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Performs other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and Standards.

Summary of Core Responsibilities:

· Possess thorough and accurate knowledge in field/discipline.

· Prepares and delivers instruction for public speaking and/or interpersonal communication courses at a variety of times, locations, and in assigned modalities (including classroom, hybrid, online, etc.).

Develop instructional materials; plan and organize instruction to enhance student learning; prepare the syllabi; and teach classes in a way that encourages student learning.

Meet classes as scheduled.

· Be accessible to students through e-mail, phone, scheduled office hours, or at other times.

· Evaluate student work and maintain accurate records of students’ academic standing.

· Provide students with constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback in a timely manner.

· Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits.

Demonstrate integrity and positive interpersonal and communication skills.

· Fulfill all expectations of adjunct faculty.

Skills:

· Demonstrated proficiency in technical area of expertise.

Well versed in current teaching trends, techniques, resources, and technology for both onsite and virtual learning, as necessary.

Education

Bachelor's Degree - Required

Master's Degree - Preferred

Minimum of 18 graduate hours in communication coursework - Required

Experience

In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experience is typically required for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
