Job Summary

This position is responsible for creating and managing custom applications, reporting services, and data dashboards as assigned and required by the College to serve and support our students, faculty, and staff. This position will train other division members on the above as needed to provide additional support. This position may also support third-party applications to ensure the College utilizes them to their fullest potential while working with the Enterprise Software team to ensure successful integration with the campus ERP system. The position will serve as a utility player within the division of Strategy and Analytics, reporting directly to the Vice President.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) with two years of relevant experience
  • Must have experience in the following:
    • Advanced use of SQL queries
    • Creating reports within Microsoft Reporting Services or a similar product
    • Experience creating and maintaining web-based applications integrated with one or more SQL databases
    • Experience creating applications in a high-level language such as C#, Python, Java, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Experience integrating applications with ERP systems such as Banner, Colleague, or Jenzabar
  • Experience with Document Imaging systems such as Image Now or OnBase
  • Experience working directly with end-users to develop application specifications

Essential Functions

  • Develop and support custom web-based and mobile-friendly applications integrated with the ERP database
  • Work with various campus departments to determine how to utilize technology best to support their business needs
  • Assist in developing integrations between campus systems utilizing flat files or APIs.
  • Assist with advanced data extraction and data presentation/dashboards on campus
  • Maintain proper security procedures and standards in all applications
  • Work with the Director of Enterprise Software to ensure the integrity of the ERP database system in relation to connected applications
  • Train employees to assist in these areas as assigned
  • Produce or provide training materials for employees and students on using custom or third-party applications;
  • Serve as a technical advisor to the VP of Strategy and Analytics as needed on division initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
  • This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Duties indoors and some outdoors
  • Office environment
  • Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events

Pay Statement
