Job Summary

Wallace House Center for Journalists continues to build on its fellowship program for accomplished journalists, as well as deepen public engagement and extend its reach to broader, more diverse audiences. As home to the Knight-Wallace Fellowships for Journalists, the Livingston Awards for Young Journalists, and the Wallace House Presents event series, Wallace House advances the vital role of journalism in an informed and engaged society.

We are looking for a project coordinator to provide administrative assistance in planning and executing weekly Wallace House fellowship seminars, coordinating event and travel logistics as well as the arrival and onboarding of the Knight-Wallace Fellows, and supporting Wallace House communications, programs and events.

This staff position is 40 hours per week with benefits, requiring residence in the Ann Arbor area, office-based daily work, and periodic evening work for public events.

This one-year, contract position reports to the Associate Director and is ideal for someone eager to expand their administration and marketing experience. The position will begin in February 2025 and end in February 2026. 
 

Responsibilities*

The Project Coordinator will provide collaborative team support for the Knight-Wallace Fellowships for Journalists, The Livingston Awards for Young Journalists, and the Wallace House Presents event series. The position is ideal for someone eager to build university administration, communications, marketing and event experience. It involves administrative responsibility for specialized projects related to the Knight-Wallace Fellowships, and assistance with brand support, event planning and event execution. This includes travel planning and communications for guest speakers and Knight-Wallace Fellows; database management; multi-platform communications, marketing implementation; audience engagement and social media outreach; and other related duties as assigned. Specific responsibilities may include:
 

Excellent public-facing communication skills are essential. The position requires regular interaction with a range of audiences, prominent speakers, program donors, Knight-Wallace Fellows and alumni. Evening work is periodically required, as events are typically in the late afternoon and early evening. Successful candidates must understand and respect the importance of diversity and inclusion in a professional environment and be committed to audience and engagement strategies that aim to build a broad and diverse community of participants and supporters of Wallace House programs.
