Job Summary
With minimal supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine. The primary responsibility is the operating rooms at the University Hospital, Cardiovascular Hospital and CW Hospital, and other on-campus and off-campus locations at Michigan Medicine. Responsibilities include corrective and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of medical equipment. Equipment responsibilities include but are not limited to, operating room equipment, anesthesia equipment, patient monitoring, patient equipment, and other equipment as assigned.

Responsibilities*
Work performed is documented in the work order database system called AIMS. Additional duties include identifying and preparing parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned devices. Cross-training for other Biomedical Engineering Technicians for expanded backup support is also required. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The technician must have a valid Michigan driver's license and be able to drive a motor vehicle.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the U-M Skilled Trades Union, Inc., which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
