Job Description

The Infusion Center RN demonstrates competence, confidence and compassion in the assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients receiving therapies in the Infusion Center. This position requires giving chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trials infusions and other infusion-related services as well as accessing central lines, ports and performing venipunctures as needed for lab work in a fast-paced infusion setting. This position will collaborate with physicians, NPs and PAs, Medical Assistants, Registered Dietitians, Patient Services, and Social Work to ensure that patient needs are addressed. This position requires the ability to respond and handle urgent medical emergencies. This position will float based on department needs to all Infusion Departments, including La Jolla, Encinitas, Vista and Hillcrest.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
RN License issued by the State of California.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Must have a minimum of two (2) years of active outpatient oncology RN experience with infusion experience.
ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification with strong chemotherapy administration experience.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
Must possess proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
BSN.
OCN or CBCN certification.
Breast Cancer experience.
Clinical Trials Infusion experience.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Must be able to float to other Infusion Clinics if needed.
- Must be able to work at least 1 weekend day each month.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII or CNIV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
