Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Dean of Students, the Director of Student Success, will provide quality customer service to various populations, including prospective, current, and former students related to advising/registration initiatives. The Director is responsible for the administration of student retention, persistence, disability services, and transfer rates. Also, this position will assist with, orientation, registration, advising and enrollment services in accordance with State and Federal codes and regulations and the Alabama Community College System, including Central Alabama Community College, policies and procedures.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Adheres to the policies, procedures, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, Alabama Community College System, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.
    2. Leads, guides, and trains Student Success Staff and Student Workers.
    3. Establishes successful college wide partnerships with academic units, career technical units, Business Office, Athletics, etc.
    4. Manages and maintains ADA compliance while assisting students requesting and receiving ADA accommodations.
    5. Serves as the Title IX Coordinator for the College.
    6. Analyzes, interprets, reports and distributes data as needed.
    7. Participates in local, state, regional, and national professional development associations.
    8. Assists the Director of Enrollment Services with recruiting, including Dual Enrollment and Career Technical Education Programs recruiting events.
    9. Assist with the daily operations in admissions, records, and enrollment services.
    10. Utilizes Target X, Axiom, Argos, and Banner in the daily operations of retention, advising, and recruitment initiatives.
    11. Reviews and responds to email correspondence, text messages, and telephone calls.
    12. Advises applicants on enrollment requirements and registration procedures via face-to-face, phone, electronic meetings, email, etc.
    13. Ensures FERPA Compliance by ensuring student information and documentation remains confidential and secure.
    14. Develops an “Early Alert” system, geared towards providing services to increase success of first generation, and other students with barriers to educational success.
    15. Assists the Director of Enrollment Services with the administration of new student orientation programs, to include assisting with placement testing and academic advising.
    16. Provides supplemental advising for transfer students and supports faculty advisors with advising and registration.
    17. Assists with the administration of the ACCUPLACER, as well as proctoring tests for students with documented disabilities and outside institutions.
    18. Develops and implements a retention plan focused on identifying and recruiting former students.
    19. Schedules visits with four-year colleges and universities to allow recruiters and admissions officers to meet with prospective students.
    20. Creates recruiting schedules for visitors and make available to students, faculty, and staff in a timely manner.
    21. Fosters an environment of customer service to all students, staff, and faculty.
    22. Assists with presenting scholarships at award ceremonies.
    23. Works with local school leaders with recruiting and community service events.
    24. Assists student organization sponsors with events and activities.
    25. Participates in staff, division, and committee meetings as assigned.
    26. Assists with Graduation and Honor’s Day Program.
    27. Travels to other campus sites.
    28. Works as a team member with Student Services Staff.
    29. Serves on College committees.
    30. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
    31. Addresses complaints and resolves issues.
    32. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; Masters degree is preferred.
    2. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a postsecondary setting is required.
    3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRMs is required.
    4. Experience working in an integrated student information system, Ellucian Banner is preferred.
    5. Exceptional customer service, organizational, and oral/communication skills is required.
    6. Ability to work accurately with ongoing deadlines and to function as a member of a team is required.
    7. Ability to work with a diverse population of student is required.
    8. Ability to supervise, develop staff, foster teamwork, manage change, and create a supportive environment for students and staff is required.
    9. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information is required.
    10. Ability to work flexible hours is required.
    11. Ability to travel is required.
    12. Perform as a team player is required.
