Great Basin College is recruiting for a full-time Custodial Worker 2 for the Buildings and Grounds department located in Elko, NV. The position will be responsible for cleaning facilities, emptying garbage cans, shampooing and buffing floors; repairing and maintaining janitorial equipment; making minor repairs to plumbing fixtures; assisting with grounds maintenance such as fertilizing landscaping, snow removal, and painting; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and one (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR

• Six (6) months of general work experience and one (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR

• Six (6) months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service OR

• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 am to 12:30 pm, this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Classified Staff Grant-In-Aid Benefit

Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to Classified employees and their eligible dependents. Classified employees can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of Classified staff have unlimited credits at Great Basin College, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee’s spouse or domestic partner.
