The College Life Coach who serves as a primary connection between students and Odessa College. College Life Coaches guide students from entry to completion, and with support from faculty and the Student Success team, provide an additional layer of support to ensure students are successful at Odessa College. The College Life Coach is expected to connect with their assigned students each week using a variety of communication tools, including, but not limited to email, phone conversation, and web conference. These communications are critical in helping students set and achieve their academic goals, monitor their progress in courses and toward certificate/degree completion, and connect with Odessa College faculty and support services as needed. The successful candidate for this role is highly organized, self-motivated, has strong verbal and written communication skills, and is passionate about student success.
Specific Position Duties
- Communicate with assigned students on a weekly basis using a variety of communication tools to support and promote their progress and success at Odessa College.
- Promote student success through innovative and motivational coaching practices.
- Monitor progress and offer proactive support to assigned students.
- Respond with urgency to meet students’ needs.
- Collaborate with other professionals at the College to promote a positive, student-centered environment.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with students and all other members of the Odessa College community.
- Consistently exhibit Odessa College Leadership principles.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience coaching/advising college students.
