The Information Technology Education (ITE) prepares students for careers within computer programming, network administration, computer support and other technical occupations in the information technology field.  The Information Technology Education Program at Santa Fe College currently offers eight certificate programs, four Associate of Science degrees and one Bachelor of Applied Science degree.

The Information Technology Education department is seeking an onsite Adjunct Assistant Professor. Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor develops, prepares and teaches Introduction to College Computing (CGS1000) and Computer Concepts (CGS1060), as well as coursework in programming languages and database management courses.  Adjunct Faculty are employed on a term-by-term basis and may be assigned teaching duties at any of the College's six educational centers housed out of Blount Hall in downtown Gainesville, Florida.  Course offerings within ITE may be taught during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats.  This position requires availability to teach during the daytime.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan, organize, and deliver ITE instruction in didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
  • Collaborate with department director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Assist in the implementation of college policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with the SF philosophy, values and mission. 
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

Reports to: Director, Information Technology Education

Qualifications

Required: A Masters degree in one of these qualifying fields:  Business, Computer Science or Information Technology such as, Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Education, Computer Networking, Curriculum & Instruction, Decision & Information Technology, Educational Technology, Information Technology, Information Systems or a Masters degree with eighteen (18) graduate course hours in and combination of the qualifying fields is required.  A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred:  Five (5) years of progressive work experience in Information Technology and two (2) years of related teaching experience are preferred.

General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The Adjunct Assistant must have the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the organization, communicate effectively and possess proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications. The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites, as well as demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
