Position Summary

Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of workforce training programs, including certificate programs, apprenticeships, continuing education, and customized training solutions for local business and industry partners. Implement strategies to enhance student recruitment, registration, retention, and completion in workforce training programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of workforce development and training strategy that aligns with the College’s mission, regional economic trends, and local business and industry needs.
  • Oversee the daily operations of workforce programs, ensuring they are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of curriculum and course materials that reflect current industry standards and technology.
  • In partnership with the College’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, develop strategies to attract and recruit students from a variety of educational backgrounds for non-credit training opportunities.
  • Assist students with the registration process to ensure successful entry into the training program.
  • Implement strategies designed to enhance student recruitment, registration, retention, and completion of workforce training programs.
  • Monitor student progress and outcomes,
  • Monitor program performance and assist the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Training to make data-driven decisions to improve program quality and outcomes.
  • Assist the training of instructors for workforce training programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, outcomes, and financial expenditures.
  • Support the Executive Director in developing partnerships with multiple workforce and economic development entities in Region One Workforce Area, including, but not limited to, Shoals Economic Development Authority (SEDA), area chambers of commerce, and Shoals Manufacturing Association.
  • Prepare and maintain records for submission to the Alabama Community College System (ACCS).
  • Assist with the development and submission of course curricula, outlines, and objectives for training to ACCS.
  • Assist with the development of processes for the implementation and or piloting of ACCS/Innovation Center developed curricula for trainings.
  • Work on ACCS projects as needed.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, required.
  • Two years directly related experience (manufacturing, business, program or project management, career/technical education, higher education, etc.), required.
  • Experience in sales and/or marketing in manufacturing industry, business, training, or education, preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing industries, preferred.

SALARY: Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Community College System’s Salary Schedule E1-2 ($49,686 - $66,832).

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns up to two (2) regularly scheduled workdays of personal leave per leave year.
Unused Personal Leave converts to sick leave if not used.

Professional Leave
Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama.
Tier I - Pays 7.50% monthly. State matches 12.59% (effective 10/01/22)
Tier II – Pays 6.20% monthly. State matches 11.44% (effective 10/01/22)
Law Enforcement Officers:
Tier I-Pays 8.50% monthly. State matches 12.59%(effective 10/01/22)
Tier II- Pays 7.20% monthly. State matches 11.44% (effective 10/01/22)

Health Insurance
PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA.

Premium amounts:

  • Family (without Spouse but with dependents) $ 207

  • Includes $100 per month spousal surcharge Note: The spousal surcharge does not apply to spouses who are independently eligible for PEEHIP.

Tobacco Usage Premium

The tobacco premium applies only to the PEEHIP Hospital Medical and VIVA Health plans.
