The Director of Pathways Academic Advising leads a team of Case Management Advisors in providing comprehensive support to students throughout their academic journey. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in student services, a passion for student success, and the ability to cultivate a collaborative and supportive team environment. The Director participates in the development and implementation of advising pathways, effective case management strategies, coordinates resources and support services, and leads efforts to promote student success and completion.

Strategic Leadership and Direction

  • Provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Pathways Case Management Academic Advising team, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and priorities. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for case management and academic advising, ensuring consistency and quality across the team. Leads efforts to identify and address systemic barriers to student success, advocating for institutional changes, as needed.
  • Utilizes data and analytics to assess the effectiveness of case management initiatives and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes. Stays informed regarding emerging trends, research, and best practices in student support services, academic advising, and case management; integrates into programmatic efforts. Oversees the development and maintenance of accurate records and documentation related to student interactions and case management activities.

Operational Leadership

  • Provides daily oversight and mentors Case Management Advisors, providing guidance and support. Ensures appropriate staffing at all service points, assigns projects and delegates tasks, creates work schedules, provides direction, resolves work problems, communicates job expectations, trains employees, and develops professional growth and development opportunities. Carries out, explains, interprets, and enforces policy and recommends policy change for polices that may impede student success.
  • Conducts annual employee evaluations, recommends pay increases, promotions, and other personnel actions. Approves leave requests and authorizes overtime as appropriate. Manages employee recruitment, selection and on-boarding process of department in partnership with Human Resources. Administers disciplinary actions upon approval, and in collaboration with Human Resources. Establishes and maintains a standard of excellent service to students, faculty, and internal customers.
  • Administers the department budget in collaboration with Business Services. Estimates expenses to implement department objectives; completes midyear budget review; reviews and approves requisitions; exercises budgetary controls and reallocates resources when necessary.

Building Partnerships& Collaboration

  • Collaborates with campus stakeholders, including faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners, to coordinate support services and resources for students. Represents the Pathways Academic Advising team in campus committees, task forces, and other forums, advocating for student needs and priorities.
  • Prepares reports and presentations for college leadership, conveying the impact of case management efforts on student success, retention, and completion.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED​

  • Master’s degree in counseling, higher education administration, social work, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in student services, academic advising, or related areas, with demonstrated leadership experience
  • *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: Up to $86,245.51 per year
