About SUNY Broome Community College:

SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York. The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. An additional 1,600 students are served through the College's workforce and non-credit programs.


Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking qualified candidates for part-time adjunct instructors to teach Spanish, American Sign Language, and English as a Second Language during the day in the Foreign Languages, ESL, and Speech department.

The department is establishing a pool of candidates to fill potential part-time temporary teaching positions. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis per semester and are on-going recruitment efforts. Applicants are contacted/hired for assignments based on college needs.


Requirements:

  • A Masters degree in the field of interest or closely related discipline; or
  • Native speakers of the foreign language taught with a Bachelor's degree or higher; and
  • Native or near-native fluency is essential in the language taught; and
  • A Master's degree in TESOL required for potential candidates interested in teaching English as a Second Language.  

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching, preferably at the college level, as well as experience in using educational technology in classroom or online adaptations and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. Experience with Brightspace is especially preferred.
