The JOBS Coach will be responsible for providing comprehensive support, advocacy, and case management services to justice-impacted individuals. The role involves helping clients navigate resources related to housing, employment, mental health, substance use treatment, education, and legal issues.
Responsibilities:
Case Management and Client Support
- Provide ongoing case management for a caseload of 8-10 program participants.
- Conduct assessments to determine clients’ needs, barriers, and eligibility for various services.
- Develop individualized care plans focusing on short-term and long-term goals.
- Provide direct support and guidance to justice-impacted individuals, helping them navigate the complexities of reentry.
- Act as a liaison between clients and service providers, ensuring they receive the necessary resources such as housing, employment, healthcare, and education.
- Advocate for clients with government agencies, legal services, employers, and other community resources.
- Make appropriate referrals for services such as substance abuse treatment, mental health care, vocational training, or legal aid.
Skill Development and Community Integration
- Help clients build job readiness skills, including resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
- Connect clients to educational and vocational programs to enhance skills and qualifications.
- Work closely with community organizations, healthcare providers, legal professionals, and probation/parole officers to create a coordinated support network.
- Encourage participation in community events, workshops, or support programs to foster a sense of belonging and personal growth.
Documentation and Case Monitoring
- Maintain detailed and confidential case records, documenting all client interactions and progress.
- Regularly review and adjust care plans based on clients' evolving needs and goals.
- Monitor clients’ compliance with legal obligations (probation, parole), if applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 years of related experience.
- Will consider Associate Degree with 3 years of related experience if has education, training, or working experience with justice-impacted individuals, re-entry programs, or within the criminal justice system.
- Will consider High School Degree with 7 years of related experience if has education, training, or working experience with justice-impacted individuals, reentry programs, or within the criminal justice system.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to develop positive relationships with a diverse population and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and external agencies.
- Knowledge of community resources, particularly in housing, employment, mental health, and substance use treatment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and external agencies.
- Familiarity with legal systems, probation/parole conditions, and reentry barriers.
- Must be computer literate with skills at an intermediate level including the ability to utilize and apply Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point as well as specialized software programs and computer applications essential to the learning process, e.g. the College’s Learning Management System and ERP.
- Knowledge of information research strategies.
- Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and outside constituencies.
- Ability to travel in Central NJ region is required.
