Description

Glendale Community College seeks a leader who is dedicated to all aspects of student success and closing equity gaps, to apply for its Manger of Social Services (Categorically Funded) position. GCC seeks a true collaborator who will prioritize our students in decision-making and setting strategy for the College’s Title V CONNECT Grant operations that support teaching and learning. Definition

Under administrative direction, manages the planning and implementation of all social work- related objectives established under the Title V CONNECT grant, including overseeing the grant’s social work case management program; provides clinical supervision to social work interns and trainees assigned to the program; provides clinical consultation to licensed and unlicensed staff as needed; ensures all federal, state and grant- specific compliance requirements related to the social work case management program are met; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision

Works under the direct supervision of the Dean, Student Affairs collaborates and receives technical direction from the Manager, Student Basic Needs Services and the Program Director, Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives.

Supervises assigned interns pursuing clinical social work licensure, classified staff, temporary, and/or student employees, and may provide work direction to contractors, and/or volunteers.

 

Examples of Duties

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed by employees in this classification.

  • Plans, develops and manages the operations and activities of CONNECT’S social work program, which includes clinical support and case management for student participants in GCC CARES, the College’s student basic needs program.
  • Provides clinical supervision to social work interns and trainees assigned to the program and is responsible for planning and providing the day-to- day clinical experience within the parameters of the intern/trainee’s degree and level of experience and supervises the intern/trainee’s casework.
  • Serves as the main point of contact to local university Social Work graduate programs and leads recruitment of program interns.
  • Monitors the clinical work of assigned interns and provides individual and group supervision (in-person and remotely) and completes intern evaluations and written recommendations.
  • Maintains appropriate supervision agreements and proof of hours; signs off on required paperwork for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as needed.
  • Assists with crisis intervention, mandated reporting, and consultation on other urgent clinical matters in the program as needed.
  • Effectively communicates with program management and other stakeholders around interns’ progress or any areas of concern.
  • Collaborates with governmental agencies, civic and nonprofit organizations, area businesses, and other community partners to develop basic needs resources, programs, and services.
  • Develops and conducts trainings in administrative policies, protocols and procedures and clinical topics related to the delivery of social work services for a variety of relevant audiences, including assigned interns/trainees.
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and establishment policies, processes, and procedures for applicable area(s); monitors and evaluates program, operational, departmental, and/or service quality; may recommend, develop, and implement quality improvement assessment tools and/or methods with administration and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategies and plans, including the program review process.
  • Recommends, monitors, and/or administers budgets for assigned areas which may include grants and special program budgets; oversees and administers budget allocations and procurements for all assigned funds as appropriate; analyzes and reviews budgetary and financial data.
  • Handles and resolves conflicts and issues and reports complaints as appropriate.
  • Promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural competency, and a positive work and academic environment.
  • Coordinates and oversees the implementation and modification of technology.
  • Supervises department employees; assigns and monitors employee’s work and evaluates employee performance; trains employees; participates in employee selection.
  • Monitors and reviews programs and/or operations for legal compliance.
  • Analyzes and interprets data; prepares, reviews, and/or approves documents and reports.
  • May direct and/or conduct surveys and special studies; may maintain statistics.
  • May participate and/or chair campus committees and task forces.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The education, training and experience qualifications are considered likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the above essential duties.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Two (2) years of program administration experience in a higher education or related setting.

Licenses/Certificates/Other Requirements

A licensed mental health professional who provides supervision to an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), MFT Trainee, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) is required to meet the minimum qualifications specified in California law;

  • Possess a current and active California license in good standing that is not under suspension or probation as one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP*), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Physician and Surgeon certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Have held an active license as one of the above in California or any other state for at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of supervision.
  • A supervisor of an ASW, AMFT, MFT Trainee or APCC must meet the following practice requirements:
  • Have practiced psychotherapy during at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of supervision (or, if an LEP, has provided psychological counseling pursuant to BPC section 4989.14); OR
  • Provided direct supervision to ASWs, AMFTs, MFT Trainees, or APCCs who perform psychotherapy during at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the Revised 09/2024 2 of 4 commencement of supervision. Supervision of psychotherapy performed by a student shall be accepted if substantially equivalent to the supervision required for registrants. 
  • Completion of required clinical supervision training per Board of Behavioral Sciences and ongoing maintenance of clinical supervision Continuing Education credits.
  • Meet all requirements from the State of California to provide clinical supervision to program interns.

Additional Information

 

Salary
Starting salary: Step 1 $8,377.00 to Step 3 $9,231.00 monthly, depending upon education and experience.
Salary range: Step 1 $8,377.00 to Step 11 $14,031.00 monthly (including longevity steps) .
